NetDimensions to Host Seminar Series Addressing Regulatory Compliance Issues and Impact on Corporate Learning

Titled "Compliance and Corporate Learning," the series will begin in March with events in Hong Kong and Singapore. Dates for London, San Francisco, New York, and other cities will be announced within the next few weeks. The half-day seminars will highlight detailed case studies and presentations from compliance experts.

The seminar programs for Hong Kong (March 2) and Singapore (March 4) include discussions from:

Mahboob Mahmood, founder and CEO of Knowledge Platform, a company that specializes in designing online and blended training programs in areas such as compliance, governance, intellectual property management, and risk management for clients such as the Australian Transaction Reporting and Analysis Centre, BASF, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Development Bank of Singapore, Hitachi Zosen, OCBC, JP Morgan, Singapore Ministry of Finance, Seagate, Standard Chartered Bank and Visa Business School.

Mahboob will address instructional issues and strategies involved in effectively driving regulatory and corporate compliance. He will also identify and discuss best practices for online and blended online/offline training programs intended to reinforce the development of compliance cultures within organizations. In his former role as a partner in the international law firm Sidley Austin Brown & Wood. Mahmood handled complex compliance and governance cases for major clients in the high-tech, financial services, media, utilities and transportation sectors. Mahmood currently serves as entrepreneur in residence at INSEAD, one of the world's top business schools. He has degrees from Columbia Law School, Johns Hopkins, and Princeton.

Kathryn Clark, regional compliance officer for ING Asia Pacific, will present a detailed case study on a focused compliance training initiative for 7,000 ING professionals in 11 countries. The program was designed to create awareness of compliance risks and ensure adherence to regulations, ethical standards, and corporate guidelines. Clark will describe considerations involved in planning - including cost, language localization, rapid deployment, corporate reporting requirements, and assessment requirements - as well as the development and implementation processes. The ING compliance training program, comprised of customized courseware from SkillSoft and managed through NetDimensions Enterprise Knowledge Platform, was rolled out in 2003.

"Organizations today need to develop strong policies around regulatory compliance, but often lack the experience in adopting e-learning strategies to address compliance issues and ensure that their employees are not only meeting, but exceeding expectations," said Jay Shaw, CEO of NetDimensions. "These seminars will provide insight into how leading companies are successfully achieving this today, and identify and discuss best practices for online and blended online/offline training programs to reinforce the development of compliance cultures within organization." During the seminar, Shaw will discuss how NetDimensions has worked with clients such as Cathay Pacific and ABN-Amro to reduce the risk of fines, litigation, and brand equity damage.

"SkillSoft has helped companies throughout the world meet a wide range of compliance issues such as sexual harassment and diversity training and regulations such as 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, the Patriot Act, and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act," said John Catlin, director of sales for SkillSoft Asia Pacific. "By understanding the best practices of other companies which have successfully leveraged learning to address these requirements, companies can develop practical, cost efficient, and effective programs that meet the regulatory requirements for their specific businesses." Catlin will discuss in his presentation the variety of ways learning technologies can be integrated into compliance training for increased effectiveness and cost efficiencies.
