Saba: toenemend gebruik informeel- en samenwerkend leren

Saba, the leading provider of human capital development and management (HCDM) solutions, today announced continuing strong momentum for its collaborative learning products, which provide enterprise learning solutions with valuable informal knowledge capture and sharing capabilities. Saba Dialog and Saba Collaboration offer a scalable, Internet-based collaboration system that facilitates knowledge transfer and high-impact informal learning between individuals and subject matter experts. Customers that have licensed Saba's collaborative learning solutions include Abbey National, Honeywell, Kinko's, PTC, Petrobras, Promina Group and Royal & SunAlliance.

Learning often takes place during informal, point-to-point interactions, such as conversations and e-mail exchanges, which typically are not captured and are therefore difficult for others to access and share. With Saba Dialog and Saba Collaboration, organizations can capture knowledge, store it in an online repository and distribute it across the enterprise. Improved knowledge sharing helps organizations learn faster, ensures people have the right information at the right time, improves decision-making and reduces the cost of information silos.

Royal & SunAlliance is one example of a leading-edge organization that has licensed Saba Dialog. Royal & SunAlliance's e-learning practice leader, Andy Wooler, said: "Providing an informal channel for sharing knowledge is a very important part of learning, and Royal & SunAlliance believes it is an essential add-on to formal training. We're looking to make great use of the collaborative features in Saba Dialog, which allow employees to share knowledge through an informal learning network of communities of practice."

Bobby Yazdani, Saba's president and COO, said: "In a typical organization, a vast quantity of knowledge stays trapped in isolated pockets of subject matter experts and never reaches other people who would benefit from it. We see solutions that combine both formal and informal collaborative learning as essential to addressing key enterprise learning needs, such as sales and channel readiness, channel certification, customer education, regulatory compliance and corporate universities."
